These are the five best viewpoints in Lisbon

Lisbon, the beautiful Portuguese capital, was built on seven hills. The city developed on and between them. As it is a city of ups and downs (geographically speaking, of course), it is natural that there are viewpoints in the highest parts so that we can appreciate the beauty of the city in its entirety. And look, there are 19 viewpoints in Lisbon. Here I dare to list the my five favorites, in no order of preference.

Nossa Senhora do Monte Viewpoint

I start with the one that is the highest of all the natural viewpoints in the city. The view from Nossa Senhora do Monte Viewpoint It is truly breathtaking, seeing Terreiro do Paço, Castelo de São Jorge, the Tagus and downtown. Of course, our gaze advances and we see many other things, such as Christ the King and the 25 de Abril Bridge. And between all this there is the city and lots of life. On site, there is a 13th century chapel, dedicated to the Lady of the Hill.

Graça Viewpoint

In the same region of Lady of the Hill, but a little further down, there is the second viewpoint on this list. Known as Graça Viewpoint, as it is located in the neighborhood of the same name, the famous viewpoint is actually called Sophia de Mello Breyner Andersen (the poet even has the right to a bust at the site), but few people know that. In the square there is a beautiful church (which is worth a visit, with spectacular tile panels), a cafe with a privileged view, robust trees that offer beautiful shade in the summer and a beautiful view of the city of Lisbon.

São Pedro de Alcântara Viewpoint

Next to the beginning of the famous Bairro Alto and in the garden of the same name, next to the Glória lift, the São Pedro de Alcântara Viewpoint it is on the opposite side to the two mentioned above and offers the opposite view: we see Alfama, Graça, Mouraria, Rossio, the Castle of São Jorge, but also with Baixa and the Tagus in the same view. There are also lots of trees and a cafe in the corner to enjoy the view while chatting and drinking something.

Monsanto Panoramic

Monsanto is a giant Forest Park in Lisbon, preserved and located in one of the highest parts of the city. To get an idea of its size, it takes almost 20 minutes by car to cross it. Known as Lisbon's green lung, Monsanto hides one of the capital's most surprising viewpoints. O Monsanto Panoramic It's in a dilapidated building that was once a luxury restaurant, bingo, nightclub and warehouse. All this over the years in a building that was pure luxury in the past. Until recently abandoned and inaccessible, now you can visit the site, free and open to the public.

Amoreiras 360º Panoramic Views

This viewpoint is new and is also located in a building. This time it's at the top of one of the towers. Amoreiras Shopping Center, with an altitude of 174 meters, which allows us to have a 360º view of Lisbon. From the viewpoint, we were able to see almost the entire city, from the historic area, the hills, the castle, the Tagus and much more. This is the highest point in the capital. Worth a visit.
