a walk through
King Christ
Our tour begins by crossing the Tagus River via the 25 de Abril Bridge to the National Sanctuary of King Christ, built in 1959 at a height of 133m above river level. From this place, we have the most beautiful view of Lisbon. It is one of the tallest buildings in Portugal, measuring 110m high. And you can climb to the top of the monument for an even better view.
Next we go to Cape Espichel, with an altitude of 134 meters and where we visited the abandoned Sanctuary and Church of Pedra Mua, a place with great historical weight and rare beauty. Soon after, we go to Sesimbra Castle, a privileged point overlooking the beach of the same name. Our itinerary continues Serra da Arrábida and its beautiful roads, from where we can see the Tróia Peninsula and the beaches of the mountains.
Next the destination is Saint Fort Philip, built in Serra da Arrábida in 1582, from where we have one of the most beautiful views of the Sado River estuary and the Tróia Peninsula, as well as the city of Setúbal. To end on a high note, our next destination is Palmela Castle, built in the 8th century and expanded in the 11th century. From this very well-preserved castle, we have a beautiful view of Serra da Arrábida, the Peninsula and, depending on the weather, Lisbon.
This tour lasts 8 hours, from 9am to 6pm, with 1 hour for lunch. Minimum of 2 people and maximum of 6 people. Payment is made in cash at the beginning of the tour. Entrance fees to monuments and meals not included.
Option for this tour:
Is it possible to exclude Cabo Espichel and visit the winery Quinta José Maria da Fonseca, one of the first in Portugal. You will be able to taste famous wines, in addition to the guided tour of the main building, a mansion built in the 18th century, where you will discover the cellars and the wines that 'rest' to the sound of Gregorian chant. Extra cost paid directly to the winery.
