The region of Alentejo is a very famous area around the world, whether for its geographical beauty, its typical architecture, its culture and its people. And once again the world is learning that the region has a lot to offer, as a journalist from the prestigious North American magazine Forbes wrote an article praising and highly recommending Alentejo. She writes that she was enchanted by the landscapes, dream hotels and inns and by the monuments that visitors find in Monsaraz and in Comporta.
In her article, journalist Laurie Werner says that it is the “slow pace”, lived “to the rhythm of the wind”, that attracts many Portuguese and foreigners to the region. But the region is much more, as it has a “varied and attractive scenery”, marked by wheat fields, “miles of almost deserted white beaches”, walled cities with castles and Roman ruins, hills of cork oaks, olive trees and vineyards.
The article suggests several places to visit, after all, Alentejo is a very large region, as well as accommodation to sleep in Comporta, such as Quinta da Comporta, in the village of Carvalhal and the charming hotel Sublime Comporta.
But the article doesn't just talk about the beauty of Comporta beach, the article goes further and suggests several visits in the region, such as Estremoz and its famous Mercearia Gadanha and Casa Azimute; Monsaraz the beautiful walled city built on top of a hill, which the article highlights the Herdades de São Lourenço do Barrocal and do Sabroso. But there is still room for one of the oldest cities in Portugal.
Évora, with its Temple of Diana built with marble columns from Estremoz, the impressive Chapel of Bones and the Cadaval Palace, as well as its beautiful Cathedral, are also praised by Forbes in this article.
