a walk through
King Christ
Our tour begins by crossing the Tagus River over the 25 de Abril Bridge towards the National Sanctuary of King Christ, built in 1959 at a height of 133m above the river level. From this place, we have the most beautiful view of Lisbon. It is one of the tallest buildings in Portugal, at 110m high. And you can climb to the top of the monument for an even better view.
Next we go to Cape Espichel, with an altitude of 134 meters and where we visit the abandoned Sanctuary and Church of Pedra da Mua, a place with great historical importance and rare beauty. Soon after we go to Sesimbra Castle, a privileged point with views of the city and the beach. Our itinerary continues on Serra da Arrábida and along its beautiful roads, from where we can see the Tróia Peninsula and the beaches at the foot of the mountains.
Next our destination is Saint Fort Philip, built in the Serra da Arrábida in 1582, from where we have one of the most beautiful views of the Sado River estuary, the Tróia Peninsula and the city of Setúbal. To end on a high note, our next destination is Palmela Castle, built in the 8th century and expanded in the 11th century. From this very well preserved castle, we have an incredible view of the Serra da Arrábida, the Tróia Peninsula and, depending on the weather, greater Lisbon.
This tour lasts 9 hours, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with 1 hour for lunch. Minimum of 2 people. Payment is made at the beginning of the tour. Entrance fees to monuments and meals not included. Full conditions here
