FÁTIMA, NAZARÉ & ÓBIDOS

In this itinerary our first destination is Sanctuary of Fátima, in the town of the same name and 130 km from Lisbon, is a place of devotion and pilgrimage, preserving the memory of the apparition of Our Lady to the three shepherd children in 1917. The neo-baroque basilica, surrounded by statues of saints, has a 65m high tower and a terrace twice the size of Saint Peter's, in Rome. Next, the destination is the preserved house of the shepherd children.

The next destination is Batalha Monastery, in the city of the same name. Built in 1386, the building is impressive. They have a beautiful church and the famous imperfect chapels, part of the building that was never completed and which is beautiful! Next, our tour continues and we will visit Praia da Nazareth, a fishing village that grew and maintained its traditions and became even more famous with the giant waves of Praia do Norte. Here we will pass through the center of the village and also Sítio na Nazaré, at the top of the mountain, where we will have spectacular views of the city and the open sea, as well as the lighthouse where giant waves break between October and February.

We finish by visiting the city of Óbidos, which is located inside a medieval castle. Just over 80 km from the center of Lisbon, the beautiful and different city has plenty of reasons to visit. Currently, just over 100 people live in the place, full of charming shops, cafes, restaurants serving typical food and even a spectacular bookstore inside an old church, in addition to preserving the original, medieval appearance of the 12th century building.
