But it can also be cold here, and it can be intense. And winter is showing its face throughout the northern hemisphere and, of course, in Portugal. So, wrap up warm and pack your bags to visit FIVE places that are even more beautiful when it&#039;s cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Serra da Estrela<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this mountain range in the middle of the country, in the Guarda District, there is snow all winter long. To enjoy it, just climb the <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Serra da Estrela (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Serra+da+Estrela\/@40.3381439,-7.9319332,10z\/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0xd3d28a0408be839:0x1d00ebbed2102ce0!8m2!3d40.3230306!4d-7.5960533\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Serra da Estrela<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, which is almost two thousand meters high and thus enjoy the beautiful views that you have from there, of places like Loriga, Po\u00e7o do Inferno and Cov\u00e3o da Ametade. On top of lower mountains, the village was built full of houses built into the rocks, with Manueline portals, viewpoints, boulders and churches full of history. When you reach the top, you will find the ruins of a castle from where you can see neighboring Spain in the distance! The city is completely walled and you can sleep in one of the village&#039;s guesthouses, in addition to enjoying the good Alentejo cuisine. Discover one of the oldest sanctuaries in Portugal and take the opportunity to visit the granite houses in the village of <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Brufe (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/search\/aldeia+do+brufe+casas+de+granito\/@41.7987347,-8.2504048,12.25z\" target=\"_blank\">Brufe<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. Snow is present every year and winter temperatures drop below zero. There is a lot to see in this area known as Tr\u00e1s-os-Montes and the gastronomy is something that will stay in your memory for many winters. You can&#039;t go to Bragan\u00e7a and not visit the castle walls and the churches in the city center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
