When we think of Portugal, a small country immediately comes to mind, full of special places to discover. And this is more than true, as there is a lot to be seen in this great little country, which has spectacular light for more than 300 days a year and where the winter is not even that intense. But what about staying in a small village, close to Lisbon, that was restored for this purpose?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I'm talking about the impressive Mata Pequena Village<\/a><\/strong>, in Mafra and just over 30 km from the center of the Portuguese capital. One little village<\/em> charming and friendly, with a dozen restored century-old houses where you can live in perfect harmony with nature, beauty, history and fresh air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The homeowner duo did extensive research to restore the homes as closely as possible to how they looked in the past. From ruins, which they were when the duo threw themselves into the venture, Aldeia da Mata Pequena was transformed into a return to the past, but with all the comfort and convenience of today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its heyday, around 70 people lived in the village, back in the 19th century. Being so far away and yet so close to urban centers, the quietness and originality of the village has been maintained over the years. Isolation benefited the village, as it did not suffer influences and changes that would distort its character. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are houses for families, couples and friends who can enjoy a different experience here, unique in fact, with beauty to spare, endless silence and tranquility that 'pulls' us back to remote times. A dream vacation! And the best thing is that we, from Portugal Afora<\/strong><\/a> We take you for a walk, and among our itineraries is the imposing Palace and Convent of Mafra, close to the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
