When we think about Azores Archipelago<\/strong>, we immediately associate nature with lush landscapes and biome diversity. The nine islands that make up this beautiful natural setting provide us with landscapes that seem to have come straight out of movie screens, science fiction films or even expressionist paintings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's hard to choose, but I'll list below the five places you should visit when you go to the Azores:

Seven Cities<\/strong>: one of the most impressive places in the Azores<\/em>, the Sete Cidades lakes are located in the Saint Michael Island<\/em>. Here are two lakes, one green and one blue, that occupy a volcanic crater about 12 km in diameter. To make the most of the experience, we recommend visiting one of its viewpoints, which will provide a view like the one in the photo. There are three of the most famous: Cerrado das Freiras, Vista do Rei and Gruta do Inferno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cume Mountain Range: <\/strong> climbing to the top of this mountain range, located in Terceira Island<\/em>, we immediately recognize what is a world-famous landscape of Azores<\/em>: the \u201cPatchwork Quilt\u201d, a set of fields that, seen from above, looks like a large patchwork quilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Codfish Well Waterfall: <\/strong>This imposing waterfall, with a 90-meter drop, is located in Flower Island<\/em>. With spectacular surroundings, typical stone houses and long, low walls, it is difficult to resist taking a dip (in summer, of course).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caldeir\u00e3o Lagoon: <\/strong> This spectacular place is located in Corvo Island<\/em> and is the result of the filling of a volcano crater, which gave rise to the island. To get a complete view of the lagoon, the tip is to walk around it. It is just over five kilometers long and the entire route takes around three hours. But walking with this natural beauty, this fresh air and the silence is really good, isn't it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount Pico:<\/strong> finally, the highest point in Portugal: 2,531 meters above sea level, located in Pico Island<\/em>. From the top you can see the islands of Graciosa, S\u00e3o Jorge, Faial and Terceira. To reach the peak you need some preparation, it is very steep and can take up to three hours. But the view is worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course there is much, much more to be seen in this privileged place called Azores<\/strong>. There are many natural beauties, combined with friendly and welcoming people and picturesque cities and towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
